Alternate badge pickup?

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 9:58 PM
I've just been informed that next Thursday night is going to be parent conference night at the school where I work (so not happy). Can my boyfriend pick up my badge with his if I give him my ID? Anyone know?

Walk of Fame Schedule?

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 9:06 PM
Another thing I've never done is troll the Walk of Fame for photographs. I didn't see a schedule of who'd be there when listed in the pocket program. Did I miss it? Or does such a thing not exist?

Question about Froggy's Photography

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 9:22 PM
Never having done the professional photo route at DragonCon before, I'm thinking about it for a couple of the guests this year. From previous comments I've seen, Froggy's work is very good. I'm curious about who he is. There were rumors a couple of years ago that Julie Caitlin Brown's husband was taking professional photos. Is this the same guy? Different people totally?

If I'm going to pay that kind of money, I'd like to know who it is going to. :-) Other than the guests. One would think they get a cut.

thanks!!

Questions regarding DCTV Relay

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 8:35 PM
I apologize if this was ever addressed before, but I haven't see it mentioned at this point:

Dragon*Con is replaying a good deal of its high-profile panels this year at different times so that we can make sure to maximize our con-going experience. For this I applaud them greatly.

However, I have a question that hopefully somebody on staff can answer for me (perhaps even the DC*TV people can address this): If these panels are being recorded for rebroadcast, will they eventually be available for purchase/download/etc. during or after the con? I ask, because even with the replays, I'm STILL bogged down with soooo many good panels this year. Thus, I am hoping I can alleviate some pressure by skipping over some panels I know I can view at a later date.

I have seen some tracks occasionally do this in the past, so I am assuming it's not entirely against D*C policy nor something totally objected to by the guests.

If it just turns out that D*C hasn't considered it, I would greatly encourage them looking into it, as it may become another viable source of income.

Thanks for any information!

Gail Kim

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 7:04 PM
My huband loves wrestling, TNA in particular. So he asked me today if Gail Kim was still coming to Dragon*Con, and I said that I thought so.

The reason he asked was that it seems like she is no longer in TNA - apparently her picture and bio is off the TNA website.

Does anyone know if this development will affect her coming to Dragon*Con??

Warriors

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 5:39 PM
Some people I know are doing costumes from The Warriors. I've seen some people wearing Baseball Furies costumes before, anybody know those guys and if they are coming? Would be good to co-ordinate things.

Hello Everyone!!!

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 8:13 PM
Hi everyone!
Long time watcher, finally got around to making a LJ for myself so I could join in...

First, I'd just like to say: WOW! Wow, wow, wow!!! The things that everyone makes...just so amazing!!!! In fact, you all have inspired me to start to learn how to do crafts...I'm starting with crochetting right now, but I hope to learn how to knit as well.

Anywho, to start off, I have just got a kicker pair of shoes that I want to stencil something on...Their color reminded me of a certain something...;)

I'm thinking some sort of curling design, like on the old TARDIS key...but I can't find a stencil to use! Can anyone help me?

A link to the shoes (I hope I've done this right...) :

EDIT: Ok, after playing around with a few OTHER things, I finally fixed this up the best I can...ignore the link (can't figure out why it is listed here, but  I think it has something to do with the blue link before the cut-away...) and click on that little sliver. The image you get to see has been sized down and is now internet-friendly. Thanks for bearing with all that jazz!

Any dolt with half a brain...

ARG! I should have started packing aaaaages ago. So, I'll be buried under boxes and shopping lists ($600 for books?!? WHAT?!?) until I get to campus on Saturday. Between moving on Saturday and club activities on Sunday, I'm basically booked up for the weekend. (If you are a member of the College Democrats, don't forget about the Organization Fair on the Quad at 2 on Sunday.)

Off to continue packing. (Why do I have so much crap?!) Classes start on Monday!

Happy Birthday, Percy Weasley!

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 6:58 PM
Everyone please join us in raising your glass for a well-mannered toast to Percy Weasley who, as the calendar of J. K. Rowling's website now indicates, celebrates his birthday on August 22nd. Happy Birthday, Percy! Cheers!...

picture books?

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 3:50 PM
I just browsed the entries for a few minutes and did an LJSeek on this with no matches, but it seems like few picture books are identified here. However I'm hoping someone out there also had this book as a child...

It was about two dogs that were friends; one was a "short" dog and one was a "long" or "tall" dog. i think the short dog wore a red sweater and the long dog wore a green sweater - and they had corresponding short/long beds, short/long cars, etc. i think the whole point of the book was that differences are cool, etc. ring a bell to anyone?

I've made a change to the challenge:

Submit fanwork (art, fic, icons, whatever you can think of) of a particular ship pair and a fruit.

Any genre, any ship, any length, any fruit. I'm talking bananas , strawberries, mangos, peaches - any fruit!
It's easy, it's fun, and is a cure for writer's block.

Have at it!!

Here's some prompt responses I've gotten from this challenge: Tasty Fruits

Respond on this post as a comment. I will compile all of the replies into one entry and post them.
Thanx :)
